Yuba Mundo Lastenrad für Transport

General information about Yuba

What makes Yuba cargo bikes special?

Yuba cargo bikes are absolutely suitable for everyday use. We want to make your everyday life easier, friendlier, and less car-dependent. That's why we manufacture cargo bikes that support a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle, making a car as a means of transportation virtually unnecessary. Whether you're picking up your children from school, delivering 25 kg of apples to a friend, or taking your date along: no problem on a Yuba! All of our Long Tails are equipped with extended and reinforced racks and sideloaders, giving them an unusually high load capacity and unmatched stability under heavy loads. This means they can be ridden like a normal bike, even with two children and the weekly shopping! During development, we put a lot of thought into how to best transport your cargo.

Yuba cargo bikes adapt to you and your life situation – and that of your children. Our accessories for transporting children are designed to grow with your child. From the Yepp Maxi Easyfit child seat to our Hold-on Bars and our Soft Spot seat cushions, our add-ons are tailored to the needs of your growing family. Children are more than just "cargo" on your cargo bike – they are lovable passengers who move around and are curious about the world. Yuba cargo bikes are sturdily built and give you security when your children ride along. The stability of the frame ensures a particularly stable ride, even when your "cargo" starts singing "Alle meine Entchen" loudly! The sideloaders are stable loading areas for transporting items that need to be supported from below. With this horizontal surface and the vertical support of the frame, you can attach even particularly large items to your Yuba. We find this design more efficient than, for example, cargo areas in front of the handlebars, as the sideloaders can carry items of any size. Simply strap them in and go!

Which Yuba is right for me?

That depends primarily on where you want to ride the Yuba and what or who you want to transport. The easiest way to answer this question is to take a test drive, either with us in Heidelberg or at another Yuba dealer. Important: Bring all your children! If that's not possible, here's a quick summary:

Yuba Kombi - Little Fun Giant
A great all-rounder for the city and the flatlands if you have one or two children. Its dimensions are barely different from a regular e-bike, but it has much more cargo capacity.

Yuba FastRack - Ultimate City Long Tail
Compact, small, and extremely flexible thanks to the foldable luggage rack: If you're traveling in the city, have one or two children, and space constraints aren't uncommon for you, the FastRack is worth a look.

Yuba Spicy Curry - The Cargo Mountain Bike
It also performs well in the city and on flat terrain, but has a more powerful motor and therefore handles inclines better than the Kombi, and also offers more options for using the luggage rack to transport cargo. Two children can fit on it, too.

Yuba Mundo - the minivan
The long tail with the most space and the best option if you have more than two children but don't want to use a front loader. The luggage rack can accommodate three children or two adults.

Yuba Supercargo - the front loader
If you have more than two children and often carry a lot of luggage, the Supercargo is the best choice: Up to four children can fit inside, and a correspondingly large amount of cargo. However, it is also considerably longer than a regular bike.

Is it difficult to ride a Yuba Long Tail?

Definitely not! Except for the extended luggage rack, the Yuba Long Tails are very similar to a conventional bicycle or e-bike, and therefore ride almost identically to a regular bicycle. Unlike cargo trikes, you simply set off with an unloaded Long Tail; there's no adjustment period, and the first test ride is immediately impressive. Even the somewhat unusual frame shape of the Spicy Curry with its small rear wheel doesn't require much getting used to—in fact, the low center of gravity makes you much safer and more stable on the road.

I'm very short/tall. Can I still ride your cargo bikes?

We want to reach as many people as possible with the Yuba cargo bikes. You can ride the Mundo with a height between 153 cm and 200 cm. For taller people, handlebar stem extensions are available from specialist retailers.

Where is the serial number of my Yuba bike?

Mundo EP8: The serial number is located on the underside of the frame, behind the motor.
Mundo: The Mundo serial number is located on the top of the bike stand mounting base, directly behind the seat post.
Spicy Curry: The Spicy Curry serial number is located on the front of the motor housing.
Electric Kombi: The Electric Kombi serial number is located on the kickstand surface.
Kombi: The serial number is stamped on the underside of the bottom bracket shell, between the pedals.
Supercargo: The Supercargo serial number is stamped on the back of the front headset.
Boda Boda: The serial number of your Boda Boda is engraved on the underside of the bottom bracket shell between the pedals.

Do I have to wear a helmet to ride an electric Yuba cargo bike?

Since there is no bicycle helmet requirement for cyclists in Germany, and the electric Yuba cargo bike falls into the same category as a bicycle, you don't have to wear a helmet to ride it. However, it's still advisable in any case - also for all passengers!

Where can I test ride the Yuba cargo bikes?

You can test ride all models in our shop in Heidelberg.

Yuba for Child Transport

Why are your cargo bikes ideal for children?

Children are more than just passengers. They are beloved companions who interact with the world during the ride. Yuba cargo bikes are built to be particularly stable, so you can feel safe when riding with children. Thanks to the integrated luggage rack and solid frame, the bike won't wobble, even when your passengers behind you are eagerly admiring their surroundings. Most bikes offer little space for a child seat. Because we know that children always want to have toys and cherished things with them, we designed the seat to be extra large. The accessories grow with the children: from the Yepp child seat to the Hold-on Bars and the Soft Spot – our cargo bikes adapt to the needs of your growing family. The footrests and bread basket also provide additional storage space for all bags, baskets, and suitcases.

At what age can my children ride on a Yuba?

As soon as your baby can sit independently and stably (from approximately 12 months), you can take them with you in the Yepp child seat. Depending on their development, weight, and size, children from approximately 4 years of age can ride without a seat, but with special railings called monkey bars. It's ingenious that you can combine the child seat and monkey bars. This allows you to safely transport one small and one older child, or even up to three children. Within the monkey bars, all children sit close together, preventing boredom. The footrests (leg-up / foot pegs) and the seat cushions (soft spots) also contribute to safety and comfort. Once your children are big enough to rest their feet on the footrests (bamboo boards) (this will happen around 5-6 years old), it's time to replace the monkey bars with the ring or a hold-on handlebar. Now it's only a matter of time before your little ones want to take their friends around the block on the Yuba themselves.

Yuba as a real Cargo Cargo Bike

How much can I really transport with your cargo bikes?

Because our bikes have a solid frame with an integrated luggage rack, there are countless options for transporting loads. The sideloaders even allow you to transport bulky items such as wooden pallets, large boxes, fruit bags, kayaks, or boards. Tension straps help you stow these bulky items. There are even add-ons for surfboards and skis that you can attach to your Yuba for safe transport. Smaller items can be stored in large quantities in the various luggage bags, each tailored to the specific model. The Kombi, Spicy Curry, Supercargo, and Fastrack each have a load limit of approximately 200 kg (including rider). This is even topped by the Mundo, which can carry 250 kg: So you can transport two adults or three children, 1,333 bananas, ten crates of beer, or your shopping for the next few weeks. One thing is clear: carrying heavy loads is one thing, but moving the bike forward is another. So if you want to transport that much regularly, you should either be very sporty or get a motorized model.

Can I use your bike to take my surfboard/kayak/etc. to the beach?

Sure! One of our favorite uses for the Mundo is transporting a SUP (stand-up paddleboard). We've also transported waveboards, skis, and snowboards with it. Since the Surf Rack was added as an add-on, it's even easier. We've even attached all kinds of kayaks to our Yubas. This works best with the Mundo, which is long and high enough, but you can also try attaching smaller kayaks to the Spicy Curry or Kombi. The sideloaders are a great help here, allowing you to place the kayak on them. Generally, the best position for the board is on the right side of the rider. To ensure sufficient legroom for pedaling, foam can be wrapped around the rear frame. Some items, such as the whitewater kayak, can work without foam padding.

Are there any suitable tools for transporting bulky and unusual items on the bikes?

You can attach most things to your Yuba with our Yuba Utility Straps or store them in the large Go Getter bags. For surfboards, we offer the Surf Rack, and for skis, we offer Ski Racks.

Yuba Technology

Why do your cargo bikes have such wings?

These "wings" on the rear wheel are called "Bamboo Boards" and are sideloaders that serve as a loading area on which you can transport boxes, an air conditioner, or your music boxes. With the wings as a horizontal platform and the frame as a vertical support, large and long items can be securely attached to the Yuba with tension straps.
The sideloaders can be easily removed, but why would you want to? We made them only as wide as necessary so they don't get in the way while pedaling. They're not much wider than the handlebars, so you can fit through door frames just as easily with sideloaders as without. And they make ideal handles if you need to lift the bike.

What tire sizes can I mount on my Mundo?

2.5" wide tires are compatible with the Yuba gearshift and fenders. Tires up to 3.5" require a different gearshift to ensure sufficient clearance for the chain. There may not be enough space to mount fenders.

How much assembly is necessary?

We offer our Yuba cargo bikes in two different versions: partially assembled and fully assembled. With a partially assembled Yuba, you receive a cargo bike that still requires the wheels and handlebars to be mounted. We include assembly instructions, but assembly is only recommended for experienced professionals. The advantage of a partially assembled bike is its smaller pack size, which allows for free shipping throughout Europe. If you order your cargo bike fully assembled, we'll ship the Yuba to you fully assembled on a pallet.
